Refelction

Which one of the four of your Text Designs is the most successful? In what ways? Please be specific. I think my best design is the worm race one. Because it is very simple yet the worms really are the focus of the design. The picture really represents the wording the best I think. Finally I think that the way the worms are put together and arranged gives it a better look.

List some of the tools that you learned and used in this assignment. Which ones did you find the most helpful and in what ways? I did a lot of zooming in and then erasing. I found this the best and fastest way to get the image to look the best. I also used the lasso tool a lot. It made it very easy for me to cut out the part of the picture I wanted instead of having to erase it all. I learned how to use the stamp to fill in areas of my design that I wanted to blend in and make it look like other areas of the design.

With regards to Design concepts and/or Photoshop tools, what do you think you need to know and what do you want to know? I want to know more about how to make my designs pop, or make them more eye appealing. I think I would be able to do this by learning more tools of shading, fading, and blending. I would also want to learn more about the magic wand tool. I want to to be able to use it more effectively to make my designs look more as a whole.

Type Design

1. Are you happy/satisfied with your design? What are some of the features that make it so successful? If you are not satisfied, what would you have done differently to make it more successful? Yes I am satisfied with my design. I think that the way I have my colors organized makes it really pop. Also where my focal point is, really catches the eye. And not having all my letters leaning the same way I think that it gives my piece more life and energy to it.
List some of the tools that you learned and used in this assignment. Which ones did you find the most helpful and in what ways? During this assignment I really learned how to use the layers successfully. Also I learned how to change the colors and found the many different fonts we could use. Another tool that I learned how to use was the rotating tool. I used it to rotated my letters to make and give them more energy.
With what areas/aspects of Photoshop do you have questions? What activities would help you better understand basic design concepts, along with more Photoshop tools, tips, and tricks? The only thing I had trouble with was the text tool and rotating tool. It was hard to try to figure out why keys to push to get the right tool you wanted. What would have help would have probably been just to give us some to time or a practice name project to do to help us get the tools down better. Or just have given us time to explore and mess around with the program.

Pop-Art

What is Pop-Art?
A form of art that puts objects and or scenes from everyday life and uses techniques of commercial art and popular illustration that is catching to the eye.

Brief biography (3 to 4 sentences) of Stuart Davis-
Stuart was born in 1894 and grew up in a very artistic environment. His father was art director for a Philadelphia newspaper, and as Stuart got older he became more fascinated with art. He studied with robert Henri and made covers and drawings for The Masses which was apart of the Ash-can School. This was a major turning point for him and in 1928 he went to Paris coming back with a whole new meaning of art. This was the start of pop art, Stuart used letters and symbols to ketch the eyes of people. The shapes and objects would pop out and almost looked layered in a way. He painted what he saw even though it appeared to be abstract.

Visa;1951 (100 Kb); Oil on canvas, 40 x 52 in; The Museum of Modern Art, New York.

I like this piece because when I look at it I see more than one meaning, or thing in it. And for every person you will see a different image or a different thing it his work. Over all I like this piece because a different meaning to art and shows how if the objects are placed in different places it really affects the final piece.

Brief biography (3 to 4 sentences) of Robert Indiana
Robert Indiana was born in 1928 and has been fascinated by art his whole life. He paints what he calls the American dream, what all Americans want. Yet he does it in a way that makes his art seem a far fetched elusion. Focusing on three main topics. Eat, Love, and Die. His art makes many people see and look at it in different ways and that is why so many people like his work and why it is so famous.

Artist: Robert Indiana, American (1928 - )
Title: The American Love
Year: 1975
Medium: Enamel Print on Metal
Size: 14 x 13.5 inches

I like this piece because it gives a special meaning to love. Adding the American colors into his piece also makes it patriotic and very appealing to the eyes. That is why I like it so much because it really defines America.
